It is harder to make a living on Ebay than it was several years ago. With a tight economy, people turn to Ebay to buy things CHEAP! With more people selling online, there is more competition and prices aren’t as high as they used to be.
If you want a product category that will give you higher margins, try selling used goods. When the economy tightens, more people with purchase used merchandise.
Let me give you one drawback, then the good news! You always have to source for inventory when buying and selling used goods! You typically can not purchase a quantity of an item and then replenish it when it sells.
Now for the good!
Used merchandise is really easy to find. Look at garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores, flea markets, or someone moving who just wants to clean out their house and throw away their junk!
Higher profit margins because you can really purchase for pennies on the dollar.
People actually search on the term used and it is easy to list your items.
You can pick up some very unique and valuable items that have a high demand.
I started my Powerseller career by selling used merchandise that I picked up at estate and yard sales. Virtually anything that you can think of will sell if it is still in great used condition. Happy Hunting!
